“Our new project, based on the Esprit 43 kit will try to depict GTO #5111GT after a tough day on the mountain roads of the French Alps. The car was driven by Jean Guichet and José Behra and did win the Tour de France in 1963. As the building of the Esprit 43 GTO is well known by the faithfull visitors of this forum, we’ll stick to the main steps of this version”.

Did Jean-Paul actually take that outside and play with it in the garden?! :o)

Spectacular result!

The finished model...

Ferrarinut Posted - 01/02/2015 : 09:31:41
Preparation of the characteristic red and yellow ribbons the leading car did receive at the end of each day. Also making of the elastic, bungee cords which did secure the 2 headlamps.
Ferrarinut Posted - 01/02/2015 : 09:30:28
Chassis and body are put together and the wheels glued.
Ferrarinut Posted - 01/02/2015 : 09:29:30
The wheels do receive their coat of mud too, with dust from the brake pads.
Ferrarinut Posted - 01/02/2015 : 09:27:52
“Weathering" of the body. We can see on the photographs that the car was really dirty, so muddy marks are generously added wich darker shades of paint where the mud asn’t dried yet. Also some oil and fuel flows around the oil and fuel caps.

Wheels ready...
Ferrarinut Posted - 12/28/2014 : 17:51:53
Right front wing did suffer from an accident and was hastily fixed and repainted.
Ferrarinut Posted - 12/28/2014 : 17:51:08
Body painted and windows added, one of the sliding windows of the passenger’s side had apparently been lost or broken and was replaced by an improvised part. The rear wheel arches’ lips were damaged by stones.
Ferrarinut Posted - 12/28/2014 : 17:39:44
The wheels ready for assembly with the accurate 3 ears wheel fixings, valves and balance weights.
