Posted - 05/04/2012 : 20:12:08 I received this model as well as a Lambo Canto Zagato from a customer to sell on consignment. He does not know who the manufacturer is and there are no markings on the chassis or box label to indicate. The models are white metal and feel as if they are solid, heavier than any other model in 1/43 I have had. Does anyone know who produced these?

Posted - 06/04/2012 : 14:13:54 Thanks for the heads up, I did not know the reasons for his absence in modelling business, sad story. At least he is still a great collector, I see him hunting models every week (on eBay). |

Posted - 05/31/2012 : 18:16:54 Interesting - I did not know Teik Seng Oon used the name DC Models.
There may not be any more new Ban Seng models for quite a while. I understand he lost his parents a little while ago and now has to run the family business himself, leaving no time for models. However, there is still hope that he might find time to resume them again in the future.

Posted - 05/31/2012 : 13:47:50 A bit late, but better late than never. :) Indeed these are the first models made by a Mr. better known by his brand Ban Seng, but the Canto and Schuppan were marketed as "DC Models" - that should be the correct brand. As you see on the label the marks DCM stand for DC Models and 002A should be for the catalogue number the Canto being number 1 (Ban Sengs are also lettered for the change of colour). Ban Seng appeared later on (around 2000-2001), so you can estimate the release year back to 1998-1999 I suppose?
On a side note, several months ago there was a green metallic Canto for sale on ebay that did not get sold for around 79 euros in several weeks, a pity for such a rarity (I personally need a Canto for my collection but I'm more into Looksmart for its accuracy and details). |
