Posted - 04/07/2010 : 04:56:27 exactly my thoughts. I only buy modern BBR's for bargainprices I started collecting BBR right from the start in 1987, and never regretted it. AMR's are true Gems. The sculpting skills of mr. Ruf were superb!
Its no secret I prefer "classic" handbuilts!
I like the shape of the Thomassina, its spot on. Ilario stopped making ferrari's, this can be a real collectable in a couple of years.

Posted - 04/06/2010 : 13:38:09 Most likely Ilarios idea with the Contact range was/is to make subjects, which would not have been bought at 250+ US$. Dont know if that concept works.
Regarding the old BBR I agree that those were real artisan pieces vs. computerdesigned stuff from today. No question the modern BBR models are very good, but the difference is there. You can see it when you look at the new 250 GT SWB California from BBR: Compare it to the old AMR version from the early eighties (ref. 492 if I am not mistaken). The AMR is really lesser detailed, but much more close to the real thing.

Posted - 04/06/2010 : 13:09:50 John,
i like the "older" BBR Models much more than the "New Age". If you check my "new" 212 Inter Vignale BBR 15C thatīs a real Dream, or not?
I never will buy a "Enzo" or any of the 163 Versions of a FXX....i know i have them in my collection, but if i see some sale them for 47,- Euro at ebay......"no comment". I know a Dutch Seller he will sale a 15C for 400,- Euro, he will find someone how will pay this, i am 100% sure.

Posted - 04/06/2010 : 11:33:46 Ilario last models of the "Ilario" series were very good. Unfortunately he hasnt made any of them for quite a while now. The Contact series is also good, but not as detailed as the Ilario range. Hopefully the AM DB Zagato will be made... |
