Posted - 07/17/2015 : 22:21:03 I guess most of us know of different models that we would desperately like to own, but missed out on for various reasons. I am certainly no exception. A lot of these models below I had the opportunity to obtain, but sadly they were financially well out of reach at the time. Others I never discovered until they were well and truly gone. Regardless, I would still happily saw off my limbs and sell them if I thought it might get me closer to these :o)
Shin Collection: AC Cobra 427SC, Make Up Superior kit. When this turned up on Mike's website, it blew a lot of minds - mine included! The polished metal bodywork, the spare engine, the display; for me, everything about this just worked.
Porsche 356A Outlaw, Bosica kit (I think). I have a little bit of a 'thing' for the 356A - and outlaws especially. Shin managed to make this one look both cute and wicked at the same time. The level of detail is just brilliant, right down to the race-cam mounted on the rollcage :o)
(Miniwerks photos)
MPH Models: Nardi Bisiluro Le Mans 1955. Unusual (oddball?) subjects always appeal to me, so this one is right up my alley and being a Tim Dyke model, it is a superb piece in every aspect.
Jean-Paul Magnette: Porsche 356A Speedster, Piranha kit. One of a series JPM did for Mike. I liked them all, but the colour of this one, combined with the whitewall tyres (most of the time I cannot stand whitewalls), really caught my fancy.
(Miniwerks photo)
Garage43: Ferrari 640/1, Tameo Superkit. For me, the 640/1 remains the prettiest 'modern' F1 car ever and a 1/43 version built by Laurent is as good as it gets.
(Miniwerks photo)
Buzz Lockwood: 1953 Timossi-Ferrari 'Arno XI' Hydroplane, Provence Moulage kit. There is something about those 1950's race boats that appeals to the hot-rodder in me, they must have been absolutely bonkers to drive! This being a Buzz build, the only disappointment was that I could not afford it when a friend offered it up for sale...
(Miniwerks photo)
Built Up Models: Ferrari 550 Maranello Prodrive 'Naked', BBR kit (although there is virtually no BBR left!). One of a series of 20 made for Miniwerks; Patrick and Stephane went nuts on these - and the results speak for themselves! They even left a roll of speed tape behind...
(Miniwerks photo)
Takumi Inaba: Morgan 3-Wheeler, scratchbuilt!!! Takumi san ranks right up there with a small handful of top Japanese builders - and this tiny gem proves it! Imagine creating something like this without using a kit as a starting point. No wonder it is currently on the market at over US$2000... worth every penny, if only I had enough of them.
(Takumi Inaba photo, as far as I know)
ScaleAutoArt: Porsche 356A Speedster, Make Up/Bosica superkit. Peter deliberately built this to make my life miserable... for me, this is the perfect colour combination for a Speedster! Add in the ton of extra detailing and it is everything I want and more. However, the finished piece was well out of my reach, so I have to console myself with his photos of it instead.
(ScaleAutoArt photo)
Rosso43: Porsche 356A Speedster, Make Up/Bosica superkit. This colour combination runs an extremely close second to black. Chan's fit and finish, detailing and presentation are all to die for.
(Rosso43 photo)
Momo Factory: 1933 Napier-Railton, Formula Models and Prints kit (by SMTS). I had a factory built one of these many years ago, but when I saw this, I immediately sold mine because it was now totally spoiled for me; a bit like having a tatty old plastic toy Ferrari and then seeing the real car for the first time - the toy is just never the same again...
(Momo Factory photo)
Feeling43: Ferrari 250 TR 57. The picture says it all, really - especially in that colour!
(Miniwerks photo)
Unknown builder: Pagani Zonda Roadster, Provence Moulage kit. As far as I know, this belongs to an old Miniwerks forum member in Taiwan. He has, or had, an extremely impressive model Ferrari collection in a dedicated display room. This may not be a Ferrari, but it would more than hold its own in anybody's collection when it is built to this standard!
(Lo-Jen Yu photo, as far as I know)
Alain Boussiou: Bugatti T13 Brescia. This was at Retromobile a few years ago. I think it could be some of M. Boussiou's finest work yet.
Oh what might have been... Bentley Speed Six, SMTS kit. A Miniwerks forum member in France was building this several years ago, but very sadly let it go for lack of time.

Fantastic selection here! Thanks |

Posted - 08/08/2015 : 15:17:35 My feelings exactly, Hans! I find now that I get more pleasure out of the connections and friendships that have developed than the actual models themselves.
And yes, the thrill of the chase is often as much fun as the find :o)

Posted - 08/08/2015 : 03:21:03 Collecting is more than models, I have made some extraordinary friends in this hobby.
Some have ones that got away ;-) but knowing they are cherished by another afficionado is a good feeling. |

Posted - 08/08/2015 : 03:18:10 There are several that got away, but thats the joy of collecting :-)
It can take years or in some cases decades, but finding a rare one can be like winning the lottery.
Same goes with lucky shots on ebay, sometimes you find something like hitting a jackpot! A jacques Brauer for 200 euro's is just 1 example.
And then there are the models that come from friendship and stories. In those cases the model becomes a something very very special... There are models I will sell over time, but some are to precious. |

Posted - 08/07/2015 : 17:31:14 Good luck, Peter - I've been looking for one for about ten years with no joy.
The only person I can think of who might have a line on something like this would be Phil Alderman.
