As part of a collection I have consigned, I just listed this LK17B on ebay and then found another one with dark blue paint but SCCA 1958. I do not see this lighter blue version shown in the big BBR book. Does anyone know if this shoudl have a different LK number?

The windshield is very different on the Moss version.

same car, different box
BBR produced the same models over a long time
what has changed are the boxes and the quality

Very interesting, here is the dark blue version with same BBR LK17B code.

the early leader kit / styling models / project 43 where all hand written
race is from 1958, a simple mistake .....
serial is 0656 a 315 Sport not 335

Both versions have the same flat black paint on the chassis plate, they look identical. The light metallic blue looks to be a factory build based on the paint quality and other details but why handwritten box and different year (1957)? Very curious model.

I think it is a built kit
but paint looks fantastic
at this time BBR had a special paint for the bottom

It is the same as the 1958 dark blue version, LK17 engraved and year 1958. So my only theory is that someone built this from the LK17 kit but in a bright metallic blue but did this real car race in 1957 in this color and later in 1958 in a dark blue?
