How would you rank in quality and collectability these six manufacturers:

MR

Sorry, I probably should have been a little more specific. I was not meaning their OC series, or their Bosica pieces - those are very definitely in a different class :o)
A year or so ago, I listed a couple of my MR Diablo 6.0's on eBay with a no reserve opening bid of $1... The titanium one sold for $27 (with total of of 7 bids), and nobody even looked at the yellow one! I have also had numerous attempts lately to sell a yellow "All Open" Murciélago on eBay with an opening bid of $99 and only get a small number of page views at best. MR's Porsches are even worse.
I see regularly others on eBay trying for many, many months to sell older MR models, with no success. Mike McCormick even has 10 or so (that are very reasonably priced), just sitting in stock and not moving, some for quite a few years. 10 years ago, most of them would have been quickly snapped up at almost twice the price...
What does not help, too, is that what little value MR's older ("limited edition" curbside) Lamborghinis and Porsches had, dissolved completely when they re-released a lot of them under LookSmart.
I do wish I had not sold my MR/Bosica 288 GTO so soon after buying it! At least I still have a kit version waiting to be built one day, however :o)

BBR: I agree, too many versions of new moulds, but they manage to sell them as new for good prices. They are totally focused on 1:18 now, this is sad

Looksmart, not so good as BBR for new moulds, also MR is absolutely the same model just fancy base and double price.
Old Looksmart windows do not fit good.
Make Up: yes, absolutely fantastic but my 512 BB windows are more and more detached from the model which does not make it perfect |

I agree with the.x.man.
I think there are some issues with BBR, MR and Looksmart these days, limiting collectability. Having so many versions based on one model renders them less special I think. Also, a fancy leather base is nice, but it does not actually add anything to the model itself. Looksmart and MR basically put out identical models, while MR is more expensive - or so I believe. That said, I believe the level of detail on Looksmart models has improved a lot over the last years, possibly making them a proper competitor for BBR. The production numbers though… Besides 1\43, all the Italian manufacturers seem to focus a lot on 1/18, which ofcourse is OK but again, quantity seems the main goal.
I am a big fan of Make Up. I like the Vision range of Porsches, although here too a lot of color schemes expand the production numbers. I think (hope?) they are good acquisitions. Level of detail is excellent (the other brands come nowhere near!!) while prices are comparably OK. Older models are getting harder to come by and I think prices increased in time. I collect plain red F40’s from Make Up. There are several versions, the often very small differences make these models very appealing to me. This is something different than 8 colors and/or stripes!
I think AMR embodies my point; a combination of craftsmanship, production number and production date determine collectability.

Intriguing question...
In my (ill-educated and inexpert) opinion;
- BBR. Quality: generally very good. Collectability: varies (some older BBR pieces are very collectable, their new stuff hardly at all).
- MR Collection/LookSmart. Quality: generally very good. Collectability: virtually none (you cannot even give their old stuff away, sadly).
- Make Up Co.. Quality: absolutely fantastic, especially for the price. Collectability: reasonable, depending on the subject.
- Tecnomodel. Quality: used to be extremely high, now not quite so much (currently mostly on a par with BBR/MR/LookSmart). Collectability: Sadly, virtually none (something I could never understand with their older pieces...). I used to be a big fan of Tecnomodel :o(
- AMR. Quality: varies a lot, but generally very 'solid' where the factory built pieces are concerned. Detail somewhat clumsy compared to today's modern engineered & built models. Collectability: varies depending on subject and age, but generally very high. A number of AMR's very early pieces are highly sought after.
