Did anybody see last weeks top gear - no doubt UK people did but for those overseas it was a great show
They had Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz driving the reasonably priced car around the track (a Kia Cee'd) , which was very entertaining and surprising - for a girl shes quick -- i wont tell you the scores to spoil the enjoyment

(this isnt the full segmant which lasted about 10 minutes well worth trying to find on the net)
then they had a Senna Tribute in advance of a film out next year it was amazing --

Posted - 08/03/2010 : 14:43:17 "Three times world champion Ayrton Senna has been voted the best Formula One driver of all time in a remarkable poll.
In an Autosport magazine survey taken by 217 drivers, seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher — one of those polled — had to settle for second place. Juan Manuel Fangio, who won five titles between 1951 and 1957, was third.
Senna died in a crash at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix after winning 41 races.
The top 10 F1 drivers of all time: 1 Ayrton Senna; 2 Michael Schumacher; 3 Juan Manuel Fangio; 4 Alain Prost; 5 Jim Clark; 6 Jackie Stewart; 7 Niki Lauda; 8 Stirling Moss; 9 fernando Alonso; 10 Gilles Villeneuve.
Each voter, including the oldest living F1 driver in 98-year-old Paul Pietsch and surviving grand prix winner in Jose Froilan Gonzalez, was asked to name their top 10." |

Posted - 08/03/2010 : 12:13:23 on the top gear senna video they asked a fair selection of the modern drivers 4 recent champions , Alonso , Hamilton , Schumacher and Hakinen --all said Senna was the best - i think this says it all --if you are rated by your equals as the best , then this must be the true answer

Posted - 08/02/2010 : 14:18:25 Prost was for a long time, the driver with more wins in F1 and you compare it with Rosberg? You are not as precise as i should expect from a Swiss ;) Prost wins - 51 Rosberg wins - 5
Prost is only second to Schumacher.

Posted - 08/02/2010 : 11:58:35 Senna, Prost, Schumacher, Stewart, Clark, Fangio, Ascari, Moss, etc. were all one of the best. Nobody is the best. They raced in other eras and that times they were one of the best now and then as well. Some were world champion, some not. All of them had different driving styles that prooved successfull. Prost is not really mentioned, because his driving style was not quite interesting. He was called "professor", because he was a perfectionist, he drove the car in every moment perfect. But he did not risk anything, he was the cool head, was always on the right place because he did not make a mistake. He could win races without any problem, but he could relaise as well, when he was not the fastest. He drove in the backgroung and was at the end third, second or even first, if somebody made a mistake or broke down in front of him. Like Rosberg senior. He was world champion even winning only one race, but he never risked anything just collected points, it was enough to win the championship. Many people like this style and many not. Schumacher was the driver, who was a perfectionist and took some risks as well. Not big risks, but enough. Senna was talented, he had a nearly perfect driving style, but he was an addict to take risks. He was many times successfull and somethimes not. Today the driver, who takes risks is Hamilton. He has an agressive, but far not perfect driving style and he takes risks anytime to fight for a better position, does not matter if the position ist the 1st or the 15th. I read a stat, that till the german gp there were 149 overtakes on the track (not in the pit) in 2010. Hamilton did 47 of them. This is one third, what he alone made and there are 25 other drivers as well!!!! Can you imagine? You can like or dislike Hamilton, but he makes show and that is, what we, spectators want. Senna was the same and he died for the sport at his career probably highest point and became immediatly a legend. Prost was one of the best drivers, but after his very succesfull career as a driver, he ruined his reputation as a team chef. That is why he not really mentioned nowadays. People like show and such people, who make show :) |

Posted - 08/01/2010 : 15:15:33 Senna was one of the best, he won is first GP here in Portugal, 20 Km from my home at Estoril, used to live in Portugal during most of the european season, in Sintra and in Algarve. However, for me, my F1 hero was always Prost, the best. Its so unfair that the driver that was 4 times champion against,Piquet, Senna, Mansel, etc, is rarely mentioned as being the best. Senna was great, but i didn´t like him. |
