Well..... unfortunately there is not a really good model magazine produced in the US.
Please note that as of Friday 1/13/12, I have terminated my affiliation with Diecast X magazine. I am completely disgusted with the people who run things over there. Unfortunately for me, there were numerous problems, and I have a long list of very valid reasons for leaving DCX.
If you want information on the current crop of mass market mass production models, then you will find one or two magazines that write about those, but they also contain a lot of misinformation and have a very biased view. There are none that will show or cater to the worldwide specialist model car industry which most of us collect. Once in a great while you might see a BBR model or something like that, but don't count on anything else. Granted I do buy some mass market pieces, but that is not at all where my real interest is.
As a collector, builder, manufacturer and writer I find this to be a disappointing situation, but as they say; it is what it is.
Considering my negative experiences with the now dead The Car Room magazine (who still owe thousands of dollars to myself and others), and now so many editorial problems with Die Cast X, I have decided to stay far away from any involvement with any model magazines. On a brighter note; I will continue to write my regular model columns and articles for several real car magazines.

For quite some time model magazines in almost all fields..with some exception in the armor and figure modeling publications....have suffered a lot in quality of the reports and choice of subject as Marchals have stated,some times reapeting the article with the same model of the same manufacturer but in diferent color combination....and always the same usual mass manufacturers, and to boot the price of subscriptions keep going up and up....and the amount of issues per year down and down.
I no longer have any subscription to any model magazine...mainly because I can find a see the great works of fellow modelers in forums like these and in the own words of the builder with out any editorial interference or alterations. Is incredible that great works of the miniature automobile art like shown in this forum by fellow builders and collectors almost never appeared in hard copy magazines and in indeep articles...even if they had to be made into chapters...we where just treated to the same mass market merchandise over and over again.
Marchal, keep going and dont worry I am pretty sure you feel much better out of the unconfotable situation, the best part is that your amazing model work has and will keep having more exposition and rave reviews in the world wide web and its diferent types of forums,groups and web magazine types than any printed specialty magazine in very limited runs and special oferings.......my very personal view and opinion of course.

Marshall, thanks for your post. As one door closes, hopefully another will open. I liked reading your articles in The Car Room and was not aware the publication had folded. Magazines and newspapers in general are struggling to keep the doors open. For those of you not aware, Tamiya's magazine now has their editions available for an iPad through an app.
I am just happy that we have this forum which continues to provide a free source of help. Hopefully the sun will brighten in Bohemia, LI.
