Now this one will be a definite departure from my other projects. The model will be based on the Western Models white metal kit and the plan is to reveal the elaborate interior with an open door. I will try and post photos as soon as I start cutting metal.

Here is a link with some photos and history on the car.

Chop Chop! Prepping and cutting for the opening door and sunroof. It's a start ;)

Hi Peter
Sorry if I produced any confusion, I really was not sure about it. But my brother now advised me to this page : http://www.vintagebentleys.org/carpages/gj3811.php.

About 1/3 down the page (marked Oktober 1994) there is an original photo with Woolf Bernato beside the car showing lines that should be a sunroof. Even seemingly going a bit further back than today.

So, been wrong, I am looking foreward to your building photos.

And by the way, admire your work. Congratulations and thanks for showing here.

Kind regards
Wolfgang

I appreciate your input Wolfgang...especially at this stage of the build. I would hate to have cut a big opening in the roof only to find out is wasn't original...but I have seen it on the original/restored car so I think it is. Minichamps has the sunroof in the top [closed] but the Western does not. I look forward to your information.

The first thing I plan to do is an accurate and detailed interior. Leather and wood will be used in this application. The very cool suicide door will be open/close on the driver side to show off the detail. The original car also sports a pull back sunroof...I may do this as well. The windows are so narrow it would be impossible to see otherwise. The tissue and fire extinguisher will be deleted ;)

Here are some great photos...note the photo with the open door, this is exactly what I am thinking for the presentation.

Initial mark up of the Western Kits white metal body. The shape is pretty good as are the fenders. The X marks are the areas to be removed.

Thanks, nice photos!

I'm still in the planning stages so it may be a few days before I pop something out.

I certainly appears to be leather but I haven't verified it yet. If it is I will not use "real" leather in this application because the grain will be way out of scale. I will do something else to replicate the texture.

very interesting. Maybe it will be a worthy modelcar. I saw only the Minichamps and IXO die-cast models.
