In reference to some recent posts and hype about an Amalgam 1:8 Ferrari 156 F-1 model I read somewhere else, and unfortunately participated in. By the way, I did comment that it was and still is a great model, but not really a great value now since the edition is high and the models are made in China. The seller/dealer in Toronto Canada is spinning the facts, again.

Maybe I'm just getting too old for this, and I am possibly far too deeply entrenched in dealing with the real cars, the car collectors, and producing high end models for too long.

Over the past several years I have seen or maybe just noticed more and more out and out B.S. from model manufacturers of all types, and some dealers who simply deny the facts and constantly make up their own facts about the models they make and or sell. They seem to be politicians in training as is one model car magazine editor who is all to well known to myself and others. I guess I am just a jaded cynic now. By the way, and to clarify; Mike is the ONLY model dealer I know who is straight forward, no B.S., no hype, and whom I trust.

I used to avoid all of the forums so that I would not get drawn into long back and forth discussions or get attacked, but I still wanted to know what other collectors (aside from my clients) thought, so I started reading more and more, and then posting. The intention of most of my posts have mainly been to inform and correct some of the misinformation that is so rampant in the model car world. Also to offer info and help when I can. I don't think any of what I have tried to do has really helped much or at all. I have gotten, and still get some flack in some places by some people who would rather argue than learn or understand. My intention has also never been to be condescending. With all that said, I'm not sure that I see the point to my posting.......unless I want to elevate my blood pressure. Not sure why I am writing this except that it was just sparked by some posts on Ferrarichat and one P. T. Barnum type of model and automobilia dealer in Toronto who still has much to learn.

"It has been produced in an exclusive edition of 99 in the UK"

Just a "tad" misleading ;)

It isn't just you, Marshall :o)

Sadly, and regardless of the subject, you put your finger right on it when you said, "... people who would rather argue than learn or understand". They exist in every corner of the world and in far greater numbers than most realise... And indeed, they are only fit for raising ones' blood pressure.

If it's of any consolation to you, I know the F-Chat thread you are referring to and in no way did I get the impression that you were being condescending, let alone offensive.
