Posted - 01/11/2013 : 02:19:24 My previous experiernces mentioned here have made me make an important decission:
After having driven twice (three times actually), I really did some thinking and even more important, some calculating.....and guess what? it seems there is room for a very important thing in my life....... After redecorating the house it is time to chase after my childhood-dream: a Ferrari!
Of course the modern Ferraris are luxurious and really fast: I know since I have drive quite a few: 348, 355, 360, 430, 550, but my latest experience with "just" a 308 was absolutely really fun!
What a great car to drive! Really love it and since this is a car you can maintain yourself, this is the car I am going after.......
I know, I still have a ong way to go, but the journey, mostly, is more exciting than the goal, people say. Well I am going to find out and even the idea of having my own Ferrari within the next 10 years really gets me excited alot!
I have abiut 70 handbuilts in my collection now and I cannot promise that there won't be any more, but my first priority now is gettig my own 1:1 model first......

Posted - 01/22/2013 : 23:28:04 Nice Peter!, Still have one of do you no longer? I visit a forum in Holland and there I met some really handy mechanics who are willing to help me with their knowledge along the way by then, so I am not worried things will not work out, but first i have a big journey ahead you know ;-) (and it wil be a very nice one I presume hahaha.
Thanks peter!

Posted - 01/18/2013 : 17:48:49 Mark...yes , I owned and restored one. A simple 2V version. Mechanical s were a challenge but still an owner can do his own work with research and experience with working on their own cars. If you are mechanically inclined and have done a few projects you will be fine.
You have good support from what you say so enjoy!

Posted - 01/18/2013 : 01:43:27 Peter, thank you a lot for your input.
So, How do you know this? :-) Did you used to own one?
Luckily I know quite a few 308 owners and some really handy men who do a lot of the maintenance theirself (not that I will be a start mechanic right away :-)), but of course I am going to do a lot of research the nex ten years of so, since I know (heard) that a bad excample can lead to terrible costs....... In the mean while.....I keep on dreaming about it LOL.....picturing me driving it already whahahaha.....No , all jokes aside.....
I know what I am getting myself into. And a good friend of mine who ownes a 308 Vetroresina, is happy to guide me along the way, so do not worry, but thank you for your concern....I really appreciate it Peter.

Posted - 01/17/2013 : 19:48:02 Not to burst the bubble of 360 but owning a 308 may seem like it's the "affordable" Ferrari but it requires a lot of knowledge and patience to own one [ask me how I know this]. And whatever you get make sure it is the best example...and best maintained...example you can find. Take your time and do all of you research in advance. Talk to other owners on Ferrari Chat...they will also guide you through the process.
Last but not least, make sure you have plenty of reserve funds. |

Posted - 01/16/2013 : 15:47:04 I possibly could, although it would take many years - but unfortunately for me, Ferraris are not very wheelchair-friendly...

Posted - 01/16/2013 : 04:06:52 Thanks Jonno, Abel and Cloud.... But you still can, can't you? buy less models and save up some more......if I can, most of you can......if you really want to at least.....

Posted - 01/11/2013 : 15:46:16 I certainly hope you can achieve this, Mark! You will be doing not only for yourself, but in a small way for those of us who never will :o)
I always dreamed of one day owning a 328.
