Only a month until the next Ferrari Expo 2013. I am finishing up 3 Pan Am models for this years show and will post pictures soon. I scratchbuilt the 1953 #5 250MM in 1/24th scale with 123 production colors and also did 2 other 1/43rd cars.

More Pan Am photos her:

Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2013-Chicago March 23rd 2013 on the same weekend as the Route 66 1/43rd show wich is on the 24th(Sunday).
The Ferrari Expo will have a handbuilt model contest for all scales and a special Pan Am model display.

Hope you can make it Joe.

No problem Joe. I will keep the Pan Am display again next year. Keep building the Porsche's!!
I think you will like the new 1/43rd show that runs on Sunday the day after Ferrari Expo. We put them together to make a super model weekend. It has worked as several high end dealers are coming to both shows. You should see the Russian builder that is coming into town. His company makes amazing 1930's and Bugatti automobile models in 1/43rd. They make BBR's look kind of toylike wich says alot!

Found some time to revisit this... Wow my bench is a mess:( Started with mounting the motor & tranny. Carbs are scratch made, soldered some tiny tees and brackets for fuel lines:) Added exhaust w/ header tape. Did a little work on the front trunk too... Started working on the straps for the gas tank. All drilled by hand.... Ended up drilling @ a 4x4 sheet to get enough I was happy with. I saw a little cross eyed after that:)

Hi Apostolos... Yup the kids are a non-stop help:) They want to do what I'm doing so I've set up a seperate workspace for them.

With the short days and crappy weather of winter I found some time to dust the bench off.

Started with detailing the dash.

Added the event tag and script to the front lid and hopefully hung that for the last time.

Struggled with the seats... Everything I had was either small or big.

This is just fantastic, Joe!

Would you care to estimate how many hours you've sunk into this... :o)

Hard to say... I guess you can call it alot:) I'm leaving out a few things that won't be missed in the sake of finishing:)

Got some more done... Mounted grills, script and tailights in the back and mounted the fuel pumps in the footwell. Painted seats & gas tank
