Hi Peter,
It is a small world the Internet, i hope you remember me. After all you must not have many disappointed customers from Greece.
Anyhow don't hurry with the gloss coat since the Carrera plaque decal is wrong, it should be WHITE NOT YELLOW.
Apostolos, Greece.
P.S. There are many correct BBR decals on Ebay.

why white ?

2 of the real cars from the same year are restored with yello plates
340 / 375 MM Vignale spyder cn286
375 MM Berlinetta Pininfarina cn322

did they have white and yello plates in 1953 ??

Yes Christian,
they had not only white and yellow but blue and red also.
For 1953 the plates were
WHITE for the sport international category (Ferrari, Lancia, Gordini, etc)
YELLOW for the small sport category (Porsche, Osca, Borgward)
RED for the large stock (Lincoln, cadillac, Packard, etc)
BLUE for the small stock (Chevrolet, Ford, Studebaker etc).
As for the restored cars it is a pity they did not do their homework well, I hope they restored the cars better than the plates.
This color combination only applied for the 1953 race, all the other years had the same color for all entries
Apostolos, Greece.

It's always something...isn't it?

Time to scan, photo-shop and re-print.

Thanks.

Here is the corrected decal:

I am printing extras and sending them to Mike for any customer who purchased this very special kit.

I can see the plaque as an easy mistake to make...the RICCI logo, well I think I have seen that before. It's sort of a minor thing. It's a very subtle outline on the white letters. The camera lens bleeds it into the white. In person it looks mostly white. So I disagree with the comment.

Here is a full daylight macro picture [sorry it's sideways].
