From much I have heard and learned about the early racingyears, the exact colour is "that yellow can back in the garage" the night before it should be transported to the LeMans ;-)

According to mr. Swaters, there was no standardcolor.
At the time they used the cheapest can they could find.

The price of a set wirewheels was the same as an entire car (to put things in perspective)
