I love that P4 model; it's a beautiful piece, and extremely rare. Did you buy it from Nathan Beehl? I had one that I brokered from him to a client of mine many years ago. I remember the model was very fragile, and I had to make some repairs to the one I sold.

Marshall, The P4 is an amazing story. Its my alltime favourite modell! I won it on ebay for $250,- The moment I saw it, I knew it had to be special. Its completely mint! It came from the estate of a collector from Indianapolis, a mr. Leonard. It was sold through Nathan in 1987. (I have the original bill, that states 1250GBP) Because I didn't exactly knew what it was, I mailed Nathan about it. He told me only 5 were made, and was very interested in buying it from me.. The blue 1:14 blue 275GTB came from the same collection.

Hans,
That is an amazing story. You really got a fantastic deal!! That's the thing about eBay. Sometimes you can find some really fantastic models at incredibly low prices, especially if it isn't 1:43rd scale. Congratulations on that one. I'm jealous :-)

Marshall, The 1:24 CMA P4 is quite easily repairable, windscreen and frame need reattaching, and 1 sidewindow was missing. Its a great modell!
There are great deals tobe found on ebay, if you know what to look for. I have been collecting since the 1980's. Knowing whats been made and by whom is very helpfull. I prefer these older models, the craftmanship in making them is rarely found nowadays. You are one of the few building models the classic way.
Your modell of 375MM 0402 is one of my alltime favourites!! (still glad I got the book about it)

Hans,
Thanks very much. I appreciate all you said.
Sounds like the 1:24 P4 Spyder was a great buy, and not too much work to do. I have some extra decals and photo etch parts for that model. Let me know if you need them and I'll be happy to send them to you.
I buy a little bit on eBay. Most of my best finds have been some old photos and drawings, though I have found a few models I was looking for, but no amazing deals like you've found.
Glad you like my book, that 375 MM model was soooo much work. I'm now working on a few more 1:12 scratch built's. Talbot-Lago Roadster, Ferrari 250 SWB, and a Bentley Speed Six.

Marshall, If you could send me the photoetch parts, that would be terrific! Decals and paint are in good condition. With original parts, it will be a 100% again! Do you still have my adress?
I am very curious to see your new projects.

Dear Marshall,
Through Hans I became familiair with your work so I visited your website and esspecially your absolutely excellent 375 MM! really amazing how one can turn plane material into something that looks as if it is the real car! Such detail!
Now I have only about 50 handbuilt 1:43 models but in the future i am planning to add both the 250 LM and the 330 P4 1:14 to my collection.

Hans,
Yes, I do have your address. I'll mail the photo etch parts out to you next week.
Eventually there will be some photos of my new scratch built projects on my web site, and also in some future e-mail Newsletters, so you'll be informed when I have photos to show of my new projects.
By the way, looks like you did an excellent job on building the Mini Delta P3. I'm curious; what did you think of that kit? I know there were a lot of parts and some involved work to do.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your compliment, I appreciate it. Sounds like your putting together a good collection. I really like the 250LM and 330P4 also. Great choices. I've been trying to find and buy one of the 1:12 330P4 kits by Joel Fumey. It has a great shape. Not many of those were produced and I'm not sure if I'll ever get one. About the 250LM; I've heard rumors of a possible kit and built model to be produced in 1:12 scale, but don't know anymore about that. So, I may end up buying both 1:14 scale Brianza models one of these days. We'll see.....

The minidelta P3 is superb. Shape is spot on! Used materials and assembly-methods are pretty easy, and very realistic! The only downside are the rivetheads...Its a LOT of work! After glueing, the pinheads are painted in bodycolor. Finished its a fascinating object. It captures the real car perfectly. At the moment I am building the Ultimate P4, also beautiful and a joy to build! Method of building is more traditional with vacuform windows and less parts. Its interesting comparing the P3 and this P4. Both "artists" Fumey and de Conto are extremely talented!

Marshall, I got very lucky last year. A friend of me(also a big P4 fan) got in contact with Joel Fumey, founder and creator of ultimate. He had some questions about the Bardinon P4 Joel used to make the kit from. He knew I had been looking for this P4 for years! Joel told him only 40 P4's and 40 206S dino kits were ever made. The initial planning was 400 of each, but after an arguement between the man making the kits and Joel, production seized at 40. This november, Joel offered the very last kits of the P4 and the dino to my friend. Without hesitation, I bought both from him!
some more pics of the minidelta.

Yes, Hans, you did get very lucky. I knew about both of those kits for a long time, and should have contaced Joel a very long time ago, but it was just one of those things I kept putting off. I wondered what happened with production. Not surprised that there was a disagreement, which happens often in our field.
I should have contacted Joel and bought one of each when I had the chance. Well, this is another example showing that I should have taken my own advice which I always tell my customers; when you see something special, and know it is so limited, buy it then because it may not be available for long.
