Question for the experts. What is the difference between Ferrari's 250 LWB and the "Interim?" Are they the same car just different names? Compared to the 250 SWB you can visually see that the LWB and Interim have longer front ends but, are the Interim and LWB one in the same car?

the 250 LWB was also called 'Interim Berlinetta'.
There were made 7 pieces of them.
The wheelbase is about 8 inches longer than of the SWB's.

The interim and the LWB are built on the same chassis of 2600 mm.
250LWB was highly succesfull and the car had several different appearances over time 250 zagato, scaglietti and different types of 250TDF are built on the same chassis. There have been several engine upgrades during production.
In 1959 the Interimbody was made by pininfarina as a prototype for the SWB series. The interim hes the same 2600mm. chassis.

SWB's have a chassis of 2400mm. Only 7 interims were made.

as far as I understand there is officially no "LWB" "SWB" and no "Interim".

From 1955 on ferrari build simply "250GT Competizione (competition)" cars on the 2600mm wheelbase up until 1959 and later on 2400mm wheelbase ("SWB").
"Competitione" to distinguish them from "street-cars".


Cars are often distinguished by these unofficial names.
With changes in bodystile and also in technics (e.g. development-versions of the motor and so on)
from 55-59 unofficial names are in succession

"TDF" with no louvres behind sidewindow
"TDF" with 14 louvres
"TDF" with 3 louvres
"TDF" with 1 louvre
"Interim"

"Interim" is just the last bodystyle and development in 1959 on the 2600mm "LWB" wheelbase 250GT Competizione.

As it featured still the "old" wheelbase but allready basically the 1960 bodydesign it was later called "Interim", unofficially, just for easy identification.

In 1960 the 250GT Competizione featured a 2400mm Wheelbase, the "SWB" was born.

And I forgot, beside all these also some Zagato bodied cars, as Hans indicated, on "LWB´s"

Good to see how much knowledge is on this forum too....
Looking at Rainer's (RGM) white Ferrari 250 Interim is what begged this question from me... Thanks again..
