Paul,

I have to agree with you!
I don’t think it was so much the Track.
I say it’s the new rules, which are absolutely non-sense.
No refueling, smaller front tires, restriction on aerodynamics and so one.
Even Schumacher said, overtaken is almost impossible. The small front tires don’t
have enough grip, much under steering.

The only excitement is now on Saturday - the qualifying. The race is just about who saves the tires and who's got lucky with the car not to break down or not to make a mistake. Absolutely rubbish rules! I'll skip the season and watch rally instead!

There will be more exciting races than the last one. Though I believe Ferrari will be hard to beat.

Ferrari seems to be pretty strong for the time being. However, if Vettel would not had the problem with one Sparkplug going bad, Red Bull would have been the winner.

If Red Bull sort out reliability then they can be the main team with Vettel the main contender , he would have won or been closer last year if his car was reliable

Most drivers are saying its impossible to overtake with the new rules. The teams will look at having 2 pitstops per race but think thats isn`t whats required.
What has happened is the health and safety issue / cost.
If they put the bigger tyres on and wings etc the cars will fly and then if something goes wrong it will be a serious accident and they can`t have that. But they need to do something and I think cost cutting and changes to rules will just make F1 boring.
They`ll need to decide quickly if the cars can`t get close enough to overtake Bernie will break F1 as no one will bother.

Why could the Ferrari`s and Lewis easily pass Vettel and Rosberg couldn`t?
Does this show the Merc`s are slow or can`t go close to another car?

I don’t believe having wider tires, would increase the cost that much.
Aerodynamic parts as spoilers and side panels would!
As for the Mercedes F1, Schumacher already stated when he first was testing the car, allot of improving is still needed.
He also said in an TV interview, not to expect to much the first 3 races of the Mercedes F1.
Like I said before, once Red Bull get there engine sorted out, they will be a tuff
Competition for the rest of the of the front runners.

Qualifying results :

1 S Vettel (GER) Red Bull 1'54.101
2 F Massa (BRA) Ferrari 1'54.242
3 F Alonso (ESP) Ferrari 1'54.608
4 LC Hamilton (GBR) McLaren 1'55.217
5 N Rosberg (GER) Mercedes 1'55.241
6 M Webber (AUS) Red Bull 1'55.284
7 M Schumacher (GER) Mercedes 1'55.524

I think the difference between the Ferrari's and the others is huge. Only Vettel could match them with his skill. He's probably the best driver of the new generation.
