| receiving from an ebay seller a BBR F40, but steering wheel deattached/losen off and lay on the engine bay, I try to unsrew the base to fix it.. but it failed, seems there is no way to take the engine bay out because even i unscrew all the screws ..i couldn't seperate the body and the chaise (seems they are glubed together), i was told by the seller it's easy to fix, anyone has an idea? i appreciate for any input. (sorry English is my 2nd language) |

As far as I know, BBR often glue their bodies to the chassis plate. But, even if they have not, you need to be extremely careful because they use very brittle resin and the bodies can crack very easily.
I am afraid I do not know of any solution - perhaps one of the other guys in here might have a suggestion. Also, you might want to try contacting BBR themselves and asking them what to do.

| The safest way is to carefully pry the baseplate from the sides and not at each end [or front and rear of car]. Use a small standard srewdriver and slowly work your way towards the center of the baseplate with a gentle twisting motion as you move towards the center. This should release the base plate |

| thanks for the input guys...I did unscrew the chassis plate and took one of the tires out, It looks like to me BBR glub the boby and the chassis very well and firm. And it seems there is no way to seperate them. I only request $20 for partial refund from the seller, if it can not be fixed, what is the best way to do? : ( |

boiling water will do the trick. its very hard to do it though without ruining the model.

I've had luck with this method:
If you can get a front,or rear wheels off,you can get a thin palate knife,xacto blade(the thin flat chisel blade for the thin handle works best),or peice of thin metal between the baseplate and the interior peice.
This can be heated by dipping the blade in boiling water,as long as you don't contact the body,although there is less chance of damage as there would be if you were using a flame to heat the blade(this will help to soften,and cut thru the glue).
Work the blade back and forth to loosen the baseplate from the rest of the car,also twisting the blade to pry the baseplate away.As it starts to come loose,you can move the blade around the car to areas that have been opened up to loosen other areas until it comes completely away.Use the same basic method to remove the interior "tubs".
The previous comment about being careful as BBR castings are made from a brittle resin apply.Gently is better......
I've had to use this method a few times on models with the same type of problem,and have not damaged the rest of the car in the process. |

i have just had a similar situation happen to me.. i have a SM96 ferrari 250 mm pana carrera, i dropped it on a awkward position and the two seats came loose and also the steering wheel and exhaust pipe and front and rear windscreen.. must be the age of the model and glue drying.. i need to find out how to fix it or else fails take it to my builder..
