I was pretty sure about that.
And - AMR instruction were done at the beginning of the 80s when the photographic evidence was less than complete. Anyway good shots of the rear of 4399GT are quite common nowadays. Never trust instructions, even those of recent kits.

Well...what can I say. You did a good job of picking up the decal error but left out the fact that it is a RHD version and therefore the filler would be on the right and the oil sump door on the left. AMR simply didn't do a good job on this one, and I fell into the trap myself. The fact that this kit was done in the 80's is not an excuse.

When I make an error [and after 25 years it's rare] I happily admit it and make sure it's corrected.

Here is another example of the [incorrect] AMR version:

And the model [corrected] when it was done as a Le Phoenix:

Actually when I wrote about the wrong number position I felt that something else was not quite exact. That because the number was exactly where the fuel cap must be, so it made me ring a bell.

It's going to be an impressive model. But just have a look at the front window frame, there's an edge needing to be smoothed.

Good eye you have David...that will be "cleaned up" after I do the initial wet sand and polish. I am aware of it ;)

Anyway the traces of the two paint hands are still quite visible; also the area of the new oil filler door is less than neat.

It's too early to make that call...I have not finished the body work. The paint is a perfect match. The clear coat is not blended yet so it reflects light due to the higher gloss.

I just love models presented on a simple "tarmac" surface.

It really works for this model. Sometimes "less is more".
