I received an email today announcing the resurrection of the Le Phoenix line of 1/43 scale model kits. The first two to be re-released are the Aston Martin DB4 and a Ferrari GTO. I tried the website www.lephoenix43.com with no luck.

The email is in English and French and offers no details as to who is involved with this effort.

What have you heard?

Hello

Advance apologies for hijacking this aged thread but, if anyone might be interested, I have a 'new-old-stock', untouched, Le Phoenix Ferrari TdF (1959) kit, dating from (I believe) 1992, which I'm prepared to dispose of...

The kit right out of the box...nice castings, good fit, dead simple. Lots of room for enhancements.

Once these arrive [soon I hope] I will do a review of the kit and build them up.

Just 30 pieces?? Thats indeed not much. The Miura should also be an interesting subject. We will see...

Not for long ;) BTW...30 kits only I have been told.

I don't know how well the sales of the Aston were (the project is called MF43 now), but they have come up with the second model, the Mercedes 300SL gullwing. I have to admit that it is my favorite LP model. Raccoon has it for sale (I hope it is ok to mention it here Mike, as you don't sell those kits as far as I know) , but I have not seen any information regarding limitation.

I agree Marshall...but look at the interest it has sparked already...appropriate or not.

Personally I don't think it'a a good idea unless it has some direct connection with Le Phoenix.

Fred should have called it La43......if it is good enough for Ferrari...
;)

i do know Mike Craig is not involved.
Anthrax Posted - 09/06/2013 : 11:46:12
Makes sense to me. I would also venture a guess that the product could be a collaberation with Mike Craig. Who has care, custody and control of the old Le Phoenix molds? Ruf's son in law? I wonder what kind of shape the old molds are in if Fred is using the originals.

Perhaps "Le 43" :-) Or is there a creature known for rising from the ashes twice? Too much coffee this morning.
