I received an email today announcing the resurrection of the Le Phoenix line of 1/43 scale model kits. The first two to be re-released are the Aston Martin DB4 and a Ferrari GTO. I tried the website www.lephoenix43.com with no luck.
The email is in English and French and offers no details as to who is involved with this effort.
What have you heard?

Hello, I also received the same email today. I am astonished to receive this letter for the reason that there is on this forum that my email address is visible to all members! |

I received it also, twice now, once about a week ago and then again yesterday. Not sure who is behind these kits but does not seem like Bertrand. Notice it said "Phoenix 43" and referred to it as a new brand. Has anyone contacted Bertrand? The way this was launched is very curious. |

I do not think mister bigaudet runs this new brand as he stopped his activities! Probably the owners of minerva43 are runnin this 'new' company, i am curious to put the old LP kit next to the 'new' one :) |

I have confirmed with Fred it is indeed his project. Collectors interested in the new kits can contact Fred directly. First kits will be ready this autumn according to Fred. |

Fred Suber should have chosen a more original name.

Perhaps "Le 43" :-) Or is there a creature known for rising from the ashes twice? Too much coffee this morning. |

Makes sense to me. I would also venture a guess that the product could be a collaberation with Mike Craig. Who has care, custody and control of the old Le Phoenix molds? Ruf's son in law? I wonder what kind of shape the old molds are in if Fred is using the originals.

I agree Marshall...but look at the interest it has sparked already...appropriate or not.
Personally I don't think it'a a good idea unless it has some direct connection with Le Phoenix. |

I don't know how well the sales of the Aston were (the project is called MF43 now), but they have come up with the second model, the Mercedes 300SL gullwing. I have to admit that it is my favorite LP model. Raccoon has it for sale (I hope it is ok to mention it here Mike, as you don't sell those kits as far as I know) , but I have not seen any information regarding limitation. |
