Have you guys seen the hammer price for that kit? Absolutely crazy. Is it that rare?

You always need two bidder who want the same. Than prices can reach such a level.

Is it possible that this Porsche No. 1 will be released as a kit for Miniwerks? I remember Mike mentioned something like that when he posted the pictures from the Porsche Museum. But I'm not sure.

Indeed these prices are often reached through a few people who want an item no matter what the costs will be.

I also remember that Mike was talking about the 356 No 1, but I am not sure what it exactly was about. A kit of that car would be nice and a must buy for me.

the kit isn't rare afterall, the best thing to look out for it is to search for the metal43. It is the same as the amr ( minichamps - amr - metal43 were all the same at the time being)

mike talked he would give this kit to barnett to build one in high detail, i remember mike had one long long time ago. You can also see it in the le phoenix catalogue ;-)

That is correct, I did have Stephen Barnett build one as a high detail version years ago. He still has one kit left to do for me. It turned out beautiful. It was the photo in the LP catalog that peaked my interest, that one was a one-off done by Thierry Miliadis in France, one of the finest builders in the World no question. Thierry has also done many Paddock factory built high detail models. I won't be doing a kit of the Porsche #1 though. Mike

This one, Mike?

I was talking to Steve about it recently and said it was based on an old Dannhausen kit, although he remembers doing something once with a Le Phoenix kit as well.

Yep... That's around what these kit's can sell for. Those kit's in the foam boxes usually spark more interest than the ones in the Metal43 box. I sold 2 of these kit's recently for more than 400.00 each. 1 was in the foam box and the other was a limited edition for the Porsche club with a stamped # on the base. I also just passed on 1 in the Metal43 box for 100.00 from a old school seller that does'nt sell on ebay.

The Century Porsche's were mastered by AMR and manufactured by Century. Those can usually be found for good deals. I bought 1 with a missing windshield for 25.00 that I plan on stripping and rebuilding.
