I had two Piranha kits of this car and Laurent Tay (http://www.garage43.com/) built those awesome models.

Then I thought of displaying the two Mini Coopers on a bed of stamps. I sent to Laurent the base and here is the result:

On September 2009 a National Philatelic Exhibition took place in the ancient mines of Lavrion (Attica Greece).
I thought that it wouldn't be strange if this "cars and stamps" set participated to the exhibition as an extra theme. I quote the exhibition's commitee and they accepted!
I wrote a brochure for this theme:
"Cars & Stamps" MINI COOPER Custom Street Version 1997 (British Racing Green) Rally Monte Carlo 1997 Group A Lim. 01/01 Lavrion September 2009 Builder: Laurent Tay, Singapore Owner: Ioannis Stampouloglou, Lavrion Greece
The Mini is a small car that was produced by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 to 2000. This distinctive two-door car was designed for BMC by Sir Alexander Arnold Constantine Issigonis, a Greek-British designer of cars who was born into the Greek community of Smyrna in the Ottoman Empire in 1906 and died in 1988 in his house in Edgbaston, England.. Designed as project ADO15 (Austin Drawing Office project number 15), the Mini came about because of a fuel shortage because of the In 1956 Suez Crisis . Many novel and elegant technical innovations resulted in a car with minimum overall dimensions yet maximised space for passengers and luggage. Issigonis' friend John Cooper, saw the potential of the Mini for competition. The two men collaborated to create the Mini Cooper, a nimble, economical and inexpensive car. The Austin Mini Cooper and Morris Mini Cooper debuted in 1961. The last Mini (a red Cooper Sport) was built on October 4 2000. The Mini has won many awards over the years. In the end 5.3 million Minis were sold, making it by far the most popular British car ever made.
This project contains two Mini Cooper models in 1/43 scale, built in Singapore from two Piranha – AMR kits, by the Master-builder Laurent Tay and displayed upon a sheet of Mini Cooper stamps of the Hellenic Post 2005 spesial stamps series – Legend Cars. One of the models is built in a street version with a green color matching the color of the car in the stamps, while the other one is built in a Rally version with engine details.
and some pics from the exhibition,
Strongly believing that our hobby is creative,
John
