Sounds very cool, but "to be released soon" and BBR dont really match ;-) |

Hopefully the 430 Challenge USA version listed will be this one:
What do you all think of this car? |

Hi I´m Lars from Munich, a new member that is just starting his handbuilt collection and is eager to learn more about this great hobby. This forum seems to be the right place for that :)
Concerning the newly announced BBRs on the top of this page, it seems that all will be in the Concept series (BBRC)? I´m confused by this: isn´t BBR buiding any models in Italy any more? And what is the opinion of the collectors in this forum on these cheaper Concept BBRs? Are they regarded as "lesser" BBRs than the original Italian-built series or is there no difference? Many thanks for your replies!
Ciao,
Lars T. |

Hello Lars T, welcome in the forum which is the best place to speak about models. I don't know how many time a day i visite the forum !
The question about BBR quality has already be threaten in the past but it's a question i asked myself too. I think all the concept43 model are built in China. Some BBR are still produce in Italy: some limited edition for example May be others forum menbers could provide more informations.
I must say that i don't really like the new base of the C43 model: it looks cheaper but it's only my opinion.

Hi pat,
Merci beacoup for your opinion and the link to the very interesting other thread! Reading it worried me about the direction BBR is taking nowadays. For many years, I considered starting a collection and to me it was clear for a long time that BBR were the ones I'd like to collect. But now that I'm finally starting with this hobby, I suddenly see mass-produced oriental BBRs and read about lots of quality problems. Hm, that worries me a lot and I'm uncertain which direction to take now with my collection!
I have ordered seven handbuilts over the weekend, three BBRs and four Make Ups. I've heard no bad stories about the Make Up models so far, even though they might not be that exclusive. But for the BBRs, I'm uncertain what to do now. One of the three BBRs I ordered was an RGM/Miniwerks BBR 250 GT PF Cabriolet series 1 on a red leather base and limited to 20 examples (s/n 0777, blue/red). Maybe this might be the road to follow, limiting myself only to the very limited dealer editions like this one? And sticking to the Make Ups for the modern Ferraris? Hm... I'm really in doubt what to do now...
And indeed pat, I also don't like the base of the C43 series - it just looks cheap. Especially with "limited" editions, I'm shocked to see the limitation like "34/50" is just written by hand on the rear part of the base. It looks very unprofessional, as if I would have done it myself!
So, one more question: would anyone know if all the RGM/Miniwerks special edition BBRs are built in Italy?
Thanks and ciao,
Lars T. |

Hi Lars,welcome!
RGM's are all made in Italy! My last was the 250 Zagato 'Lee Harrington' in silver, and its perfect! Like you I prefer Make up for the modern Ferraris,I have a lot of them! If I'mhonest I try to avoid the concept series, but on the other side I'm waiting for years now to get a good looking F355 and 308 GTB,so whats the alternative? My last purchases were all older BBR's,Ilario's and MR's,thats my way to go now! The best buy on new releases for classic Ferraris is RGM!

Hello, I never had problem with Eidolon Model too. Only one time on a 599 Fiorano but Mike sent me another one. A small painting problem only.
Their quality control is amazing. In my opinion BBR don't have the same policy of cheching the models before selling to dealers. It's the italian way of life...I have the same problem with my old Ducati ;-)
Since BBR has relased their C43 line, i prefer to choose special edition on leather base : you can choose the color and it makes the model more attractive.
Tecnomodel is still building in Italy but price becomes amazing !! I'm a little disapointing because their models are very very nice: the 575GTC fiorano Press version for example (yellow, red, or matt black) is one of my favorite. I have discovered this brand thanks to Miniwerks.
A bientot

Last I heard was that the Conceptseries are made in Madagskar, and the 1:18 in China..
Any news or things I don't know?

Not all Tecnomodel's are made in Italy. Many are now also made in China. Only some of the Tecnomodel series are still made in Italy such as the Aston Martin's.
